Clues are paraphrased from the official rulebooks published by each sport's governing body, and every rule is credited on the answer screen.

Rulebook is a fan-made game. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any league, federation or governing body.

How to play

You get one rule, taken from a real sport's official rulebook. Guess the sport.
Every wrong guess reveals another rule, each one easier than the last.
You have five guesses. A close guess is in the same family as the answer, like ice hockey when the answer is field hockey.

Words in brackets have been swapped out because they'd give the game away. A new daily puzzle arrives at midnight, and Practice gives you unlimited extra puzzles. If a rule seems wrong or unfair, use "Flag this rule" on the answer screen.
